3 min readBy QuickEditVideo Team

Fine-tune transparency, drop files straight into the sidebar, preview full filenames on hover, and rotate elements visually.

Hey! 👋
v0.1.18 just landed — a small release, but one that really smooths out everyday editing.

No flashy gimmicks. Just a bunch of quality-of-life improvements that make the editor feel nicer to use when you’re actually in the zone.

🌫️ Opacity Control (Images, Text & Video)

You can now tweak opacity on any element — images, text, and videos included.

How it works:

  • Select an element (either on the canvas or in the timeline)
  • Open the Element panel in the sidebar
  • Drag the opacity slider from 0–100%

This is great for:

  • Subtle text fades
  • Watermarks
  • Overlay effects
  • Blending layers together without extra hacks

It’s a small control, but once it’s there… you start using it everywhere.

📂 Drag-n-Drop Files (Finally)

Uploading files is now much faster.

Instead of clicking buttons:

  • Drag files straight from your desktop
  • Drop them into the file panel
  • That’s it — they’re ready to use

Less friction, fewer clicks, smoother flow.

🏷️ Cleaner File Panel UI

A couple of quiet UI tweaks that make the file panel easier on the eyes:

Full filename on hover

  • Long filenames are now fully visible when you hover
  • No more guessing which final_final_v3.mp4 is which

Removed redundant file type labels

  • The file extension already tells you the type (.mp4, .png, .mp3)
  • Extra labels were just noise
  • The panel now feels lighter and more focused

Sometimes removing things is the best upgrade.

🔄 Rotate Handle in the Canvas

This one’s fun.

When you select an element in the player now:

  • A rotate handle appears
  • Drag it to rotate the element visually
  • No typing angles, no hunting through panels

Just grab it and spin.

It’s faster, more intuitive, and feels way more “editor-y”.

🚀 What’s Coming Next

Here’s what’s on the short-term radar:

  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Element grouping
  • Snap & alignment guides
  • More transform controls (blur, filters, etc.)

Still keeping things simple and focused.
