Hey! ๐Ÿ‘‹
v0.1.17 is out, and this one is all about making the timeline and element editing feel smoother, faster, and less annoying.

Nothing flashy โ€” just a bunch of quality-of-life improvements that add up when youโ€™re actually editing.

๐ŸŽฏ Smarter Element Placement (Finally)

When you drop a new element onto the timeline, the editor now does the right thing automatically:

  • It tries to place the element on the highest available track
  • If that would cause an overlap, it creates a new track above
  • No more surprise overlaps
  • No more dragging things around just to clean up

Basically: add stuff, keep going, donโ€™t think about tracks.

๐Ÿ“ Taller Timeline Tracks

Timeline tracks are now 48px tall instead of 32px.

Why this matters:

  • Thumbnails are easier to see
  • Text labels are more readable
  • Click + drag feels way less fiddly
  • Much nicer on touchpads and tablets

Small change, big comfort upgrade.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Click Stuff Directly in the Player

You can now select elements straight from the video preview:

  • Hover โ†’ see an outline
  • Click โ†’ select the element
  • Shift + Click โ†’ add it to your current selection

So instead of hunting through the timeline or sidebar, you can just click what you see.
This makes multi-select edits way faster.

๐ŸŽจ Edit Multiple Elements at Once

The sidebar now supports multi-element editing ๐ŸŽ‰

If you select more than one element, you can change:

  • X / Y position
  • Rotation
  • Scale

All selected elements update together.

Smart inputs

  • Same value across elements โ†’ shows that value
  • Different values โ†’ input is empty and ready for a new one
  • Any change applies to everything selected

Great for:

  • Aligning text layers
  • Scaling groups of images
  • Rotating multiple elements together
  • Nudging a whole composition at once

โš ๏ธ Clearer Error When Canvas Is Empty

If you try to render a video with nothing on the canvas, youโ€™ll now get a clear alert explaining:

  • Why rendering canโ€™t happen
  • What you need to do next

No more guessing why nothing happened.

๐Ÿš€ What Weโ€™re Working On Next

Coming up:

  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Element grouping
  • Snap / alignment guides
  • More transform controls (opacity, blur, etc.)
